FORT WORTH — The Sanger Indians are peaking at just the right time. Freshman pitcher Anthony Escobedo threw a three-hit shutout, striking out nine, while classmate Wilding Smith doubled and drove in a run Saturday, leading the Indians to a 4-0 victory over Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis to sweep the Class 3A Region II area-round playoff series in two games.
WOLFFORTH — As it turned out, the weather never was an issue Saturday. Nope, the only issue on this day, at least as far as El Paso Andress was concerned, was Ryan’s James Marshall.
McKINNEY — Meant to be a best-of-three playoff series, Argyle and Lucas Lovejoy gave the crowd three games’ worth of drama in their one-game, winner-take-all Class 3A Region II area playoff game Saturday night at Boyd High School.
On Wednesday, the Touchdown Club of Atlanta awarded Ryan senior Mario Edwards the Bobby Dodd Defensive Player of the Year Award. The organization was founded in 1936.
